Villa came from behind to win 2-1 at Wembley thanks to goals from Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph to claim a spot in the FA Cup final against Arsenal, who would go on to lift the trophy.
And Grealish, a boyhood Villa supporter who shone in the heart of midfield for his club that day as a teenager, claimed he was overcome with emotion following the final whistle.
'I've not said this before, but it was the most emotional I've ever been after a game,' the 24-year-old told The Athletic.
'I went into the showers on my own and started crying. I was 19, so I was a bit shy. I felt like I had to hide away from my team-mates and let it all out.
'That feeling, when it had all sunk in, going up to see my mum and dad after at Wembley was amazing.
'They told me that they were so proud of me and I'll never forget that.'

Four years on and Grealish has turned into Villa's biggest leader, guiding his beloved club back to the Premier League as captain.
However, Villa have found life tough in the top-flight, picking up just three points from their opening four fixtures as they bid to beat the drop come the end of the season.
Grealish and Villa will be desperate for victory when they take on West Ham at home on Monday night.
