Valencia general manager Mateu Alemany is in discussions to leave the club following a dispute with owner Peter Lim.
A report in Cadena Ser has revealed that Alemany has 'irreversible differences' with Lim in the wake of manager Marcelino's sacking.
Alemany has played a key role in the club's return to the top following a difficult few years but Lim is now alleged to have taken a more hands-on approach to footballing matters leaving the GM dissatisfied with the dynamic and therefore seeking an exit.
Alemany was the man who made the decision to appoint Marcelino two summers ago and is likely frustrated to see the call to sack him taken out of his hands.
Marcelino could count himself unfortunate to be sacked so early in the 2019-20 season after guiding them to Copa del Rey success and secured Champions League football last season.
'Valencia told Marcelino Garcia Toral on Wednesday that he is no longer first team coach,' a club statement last week said.
'The club would like to thank him for his work and dedication during his time at our entity and wish him success for the future.'
Valencia have replaced him with Albert Celades, who has signed a contract until June 30, 2021.
